In April 2010 the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) reviewed its Green Star rating tool; used for assessing and rating the environmental performance of buildings.
Following a detailed stakeholder engagement process which reviewed the significant achievements within the PVC industry in recent years to reduce the environmental and human health risks previously associated with PVC, the "PVC minimisation" clause which previously existed was removed.
This was replaced by a new approach which concentrates on "Best Practice PVC"
Up to two credit points can be awarded where PVC product manufacturers demonstrate that their product meets the requirements of "Best Practice Guidelines for PVC in the Built Environment (BEP - PVC) ".
This demonstration requires an independent audit of the requirements in accordance with the yet to be released "Verification Guidance Document"
Until this document is released, a "Manufacturer's Declaration Document", confirming compliance with the requirements of BEP-PVC will be used.
APP (AussieDuct) Rigid and Corrugated Conduit, Trunking and all Fittings comply with the GBCA Best Practice Requirements.
APP is able to provide the required "Manufacturer's Declaration Document" on a case-by-case basis.
Customers requesting "Best Practice PVC" products will need to confirm the following information which must be included by the manufacturer in their Declaration:
- The products or group of products
- The project name and address
Please contact your local APP Representative to obtain a Manufacturer's Declaration.
NOTE: The Manufacturer's Declaration will expire 3 months from the release of the Verification Guidance Document.
